Das had 12-year stint as Finance Director with International Management Group (IMG), India and Korea, handling sports entertainment and media. Good Relations India has named Deepak Kanulkar as COO, Based in Mumbai, Kanulkar will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the PR consultancy, in addition to leading the growth strategy. In his earlier assignments, Kanulkar has worked as Head of Corporate Communications with Tata AIG Life Insurance and Tata AIG General Insurance. He has also headed the corporate communications function at Arab Insurance Group (Arig), an insurance player in the Middle-East. JWT India assigned creative mandate for Cleartrip.com

JWT India has won the creative duties of travel portal Cleartrip.com following a multi-agency pitch. Noel Swain, Vice-President, Marketing (All India), Cleartrip.com, has confirmed the development and said that the ad spends are substantial. He, however, refused to quote a figure. Publicis India is the incumbent agency, while the media duties are being handled in-house by the client.

TBWA\India’s gain could be RK Swamy BBDO’s loss. In a recent global development, TBWA Worldwide has bagged the Visa Inc. account in the wake of a thorough review of Visa’s incumbent agencies. Even as the implications of this move are still unravelling, it is expected that even the India market would see the impact of this decision. Visa, which is one of the key advertisers in India, is expected to move to TBWA\India soon. The change would be effective from January 1, 2009.

In the last 15 years, I think the senior people have failed this industry, barring two or three people. When stalwarts of Indian advertising like Alyque Padamsee or Subhash Ghoshal moved out, the new leaders began working on new pressures. Agency heads began working on protecting their businesses rather than growing them. The charismatic leaders went missing, who otherwise attract people from outside the profession.
