Indiatimes launches ‘Hibuddy’, a social networking service for mobile users
Indiatimes has announced the launch of Hibuddy, its first ever voice social networking and blogging service for mobile users. In order to avail of this service, users need to call 58888199 and create their voice channel, through which they can connect to other users with similar interests. Thus, users looking for social networking no longer need to be connected to the Internet and can easily find friends right from their mobile phones.
Communication roadmap for the North-East on the anvil
Minister for Information & Broadcasting Ambika Soni on July 13, 2010 inaugurated the 1st Regional Conference of Media Units in the North-East at Guwahati. Speaking on the occasion, Soni said that all efforts would be made to innovate communication tools and processes in order to address the communication needs of the North-Eastern region. For this purpose, the initiatives of the I&B Ministry would aim to empower the people with quality information, while at the same time looking into issues related to infrastructure upgradation for media units, manpower requirements for enhancing information dissemination , programming and content creation for effective outreach.

Network18 Group, Sun Network form strategic alliance to create Sun18
Network18 Group and Sun Network have joined hands to launch one of India’s biggest distribution entities. The new entity, to be called Sun18, also marks the entry of Network18 Group into the Indian television distribution space. To begin with, Sun18 will distribute a total of 33 channels from Viacom18, Network18, Disney India Network and the Sun Network.

Hindi magazine ‘Dunia In Dino’ set to hit newsstands by July-end
Sudhir Saxena, the former Editor of India News Magazine, is set to launch a monthly Hindi magazine, titled ‘Dunia In Dino’, by the end of the July 2010. The magazine will focus on political and social issues, besides covering the Hindi literature world. Saxena said that an English version of the magazine would also be launched soon.

Hemanth Shah to join LMG as President – OOH Initiatives
Times OOH’s Hemanth Shah is joining Lintas Media Group (LMG) as President, Out-of-Home Initiatives. His mandate would include the agency’s expansion into various out-of-home consumer spaces, including retail, events, transport, sports and outdoor. Shah will work closely with Aaren Initiative, LMG and Karishma Initiative leadership, and would report to Lintas Media Group Chairman & CEO Lynn de Souza. Shah is expected to assume office this week.
