Fali Vakeel, the former Vice Chairman of Lowe Lintas, has passed away. Vakeel, an ad veteran, was appointed as the Chairman of the agency in 2011.

"Our beloved Fali passed away peacefully at 4.10 am. His soul rests in peace," said the family.

Before Lowe Lintas, Vakeel worked at JWT in London and at McCann. Brought up in Mumbai, the ad veteran had majored in English and Psychology but eventually got into Accountancy. Eventually, he recognised his calling in advertising and took a job at JWT London. After eight years, he returned to India back in the early 80s.

Vakeel played a pivotal role in charting the growth of Lowe Lintas, often called the ‘Last of the Mad Men in Indian advertising’ by his colleague and agency CEO Joseph George. He had close working ties with giants of the Indian ad land such as R Balki,  CVL Srinivas and Alyque Padamsee.

He hung up his boots in 2016, bidding farewell to the world of advertising.

Vakeel's funeral will be held on Saturday, March 16th at the Parsi Prayer Hall, Worli at 3:40pm with Uthumna on Sunday, 17th March at the same venue at 3:40pm.
