Pepsico's Praveen Someshwar appointed CEO and MD at HT Media
He replaces Rajiv Verma, who recently resigned from the position of CEO - HT Media after spending 14 years with the company
HT Media has appointed Praveen Someshwar as chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD). The development was confirmed through a BSE filing by the company. Someshwar, 51, is currently the senior vice-president (VP) and general manager (GM), North Asia, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and other islands in the Asia Pacific region at PepsiCo where he has spent over two decades, including stints as the CEO of both the beverage and the foods businesses of PepsiCo India.
He replaces Rajiv Verma, who recently resigned from the position of CEO - HT Media after spending 14 years with the company. Verma will continue to remain associated with HT Media in an advisory role.
In an internal email sent to employees, Shobhana Bhartia, Chairperson and Group Editorial Director, said, "As the Indian media business moves towards a more converged future, and as our advertising customers start looking for value added solutions, I am sure Praveen’s experience across functions and geographies, and understanding of the Indian market, will stand us in good stead, as will his experience of being a custodian of one of the world’s biggest brands. Praveen’s appointment is part of a considered succession planning exercise as we focus on building the next generation of leaders at HT Media."
Someshwar will start his journey with HT Media from August 1, 2018.
