The 23-year-old from Rohtak pulled off a sensational 8-5 victory over Aisuluu Tynybekova in the Play-off bout, becoming only the fourth woman athlete from India to win an Olympic medal.
With over 230,000 Tweets, Twitterati couldn’t stop praising Sakshi for her remarkable feat.
"Sakshi and Dipa made history at the Olympics and fans in India responded with lots of love on Twitter, with more than half a million Tweets about their performances. Both of them used Twitter to share their gratitude, and public leaders to Bollywood actors, journalists to media organisations, athletes to fans followed them immediately after," said Aneesh Madani, Head of Sports Partnerships at Twitter India
