Vaishnaw began his career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1994, where he was known for his innovative solutions and dedication to public service. The former bureaucrat hails from the Pali district of Rajasthan.
In 2019, Ashwini Vaishnaw was elected as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, representing Odisha. His return to public service marked a new chapter in his career, where he was able to combine his vast experience in administration and the private sector to drive significant reforms.
In July 2021, Vaishnaw was appointed as the Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology. Under his leadership, the Indian Railways has seen a renewed focus on modernization and safety. Projects such as the introduction of high-speed trains, the upgrading of railway infrastructure, and the push towards electrification have transformed the sector, making it more efficient and passenger-friendly.
