Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra has been replaced by senior bureaucrat Sanjay Jaju on Saturday as part of a bureaucratic reshuffle. Chandra has been appointed as the Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry.
Jaju is a 1992-batch IAS officer who is currently serving in his cadre state of Telangana. He is has a postgraduate degree in mechanical engineering and also has a management degree with a background in finance. Jaju is also an ILI Fellow from the Aspen Institute.
Jaju has worked across areas like urban, tribal welfare, education, etc. He also worked as Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh in Information Technology & Communications Department.
Eight other senior officers have been appointed in different central government departments and in the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal, as per media reports.
