DAVP asks TV & radio channels to stop running Bharat Nirman ads from today

The advisory has been issued in order to adhere to the election code of conduct, which is expected to come into force soon ahead of the Lok Sabha polls

In light of the approaching Lok Sabha elections, the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) has issued an advisory to private cable and satellite TV channels, Doordarshan, private FM radio channels and All India Radio not to carry the ruling UPA Government’s Bharat Nirman campaign with effect from today, March 3, 2014.

DAVP advisory further stated, “All channels and stations are to strictly adhere to the directions as no payment will be made by DAVP for the audio-video spots telecast/ broadcast for the Bharat Nirman campaign beyond March 2, 2014.”

The Bharat Nirman campaign focussed on the various schemes of the UPA Government, including MGNREGA, National Rural Health Mission, and direct cash transfer, among others, besides highlighting the achievements of the Government in its two consecutive tenures.
