Starcom bags media duties for Univercell Telecommunications
Univercell, the largest retailer in mobile phones in Tamil Nadu, has appointed Starcom Worldwide Chennai as its media agency. The account size is pegged upwards of Rs 3 crore. There was no formal pitch involved for the business. Rubecon is handling the creative duties of Univercell.

Confirming the development, Satish Babu, Managing Director, Univercell Telecommunications, said, “When we were on the lookout for a media partner, a lot of people from the industry proposed Starcom’s name. Besides, we also went through their presentations and selected Starcom as it suited our requirements.”
The media mix would primarily be print driven besides television and some BTL activates. Univercell Telecommunications has 12 branches in Chennai city alone. The mobile retail major is poised to expand its horizons across India this year.
