Veteran journalist Sujata Anandan no more

Senior journalist Sujata Anandan passed away on Wednesday night after suffering a heart attack.

Known as a chronicler of Maharashtra politics for three decades, Sujata Anandan had also authored a book on the Shiv Sena.

She had worked for several dailies, including The Indian Express, magazines like Outlook, and news agency United News of India.

In a post on X, Rajdeep Sardesai wrote: "We were all part of a Mumbai media fraternity in the 1980s/1990s long before news became noise. RIP  Om Shanti."

The media fraternity expressed their sorrow over the loss the senior journalist and writer.

Very sad news. Veteran journalist, columnist & staunch supporter of liberal, progressive & secular thinking Sujata Anandan is no more. Yesterday, another senior journalist Satish Nandgaonkar passed away due to heart attack. Big loss to Journo fraternity. My heartfelt condolences.

Through college, there were some formidable bylines I wanted to emulate. Among them - Sujata Anandan, who could read Maharashtra politics like no one else, and Satish Nandgaonkar, with his strong grip on governance and infrastructure issues. Their passing is truly tragic. RIP.
