Madurai, often described as the political capital of Tamil Nadu, will get a taste of private FM broadcast soon. Entertainment Network India Ltd promoted Radio Mirchi is slated for launch in the city around February next year, according to sources close to the development. Radio Mirchi will also be launched in Coimbatore around the same time.
Radio Mirchi would be the first private FM station in Madurai, whereas in Coimbatore, which listens to Suriyan FM currently, it would be the second private FM player. The FM major has already launched an RJ hunt and is on the lookout for some talented, young and vibrant RJs.
“Radio Mirchi is an FM station mirroring the city wherever it operates and it would be no different in Madurai and Coimbatore,” said Anand Parameswaran, Station Head, Radio Mirchi, Chennai. “We are looking for some extremely talented people with right kind of attitude. The content will be mostly in Tamil and an attempt will be made to keep it as local as possible,” he further said.
For advertisers, Radio Mirchi would provide a new vehicle to reach the local audience.
