Dish TV shareholders reject appointments of 2 independent directors
84% of the shareholders approved Manoj Dobhal as CEO who was appointed as the chief executive in May last year
Dish TV reportedly held an extraordinary general meeting on Friday where 83% of its shareholders rejected the appointment of Mukesh Chand and Manish Khandelwal as independent directors. However, 84% of the shareholders approved Manoj Dobhal as CEO who was appointed as the chief executive in May last year.
With the rejection of Chand and Khandelwal, Dish TV’s total number of rejected independent shareholders has stood at 18 since September 2021.
On Monday, the company appointed Garima Bharadwaj and Azeezuddin Mohammad as independent directors. While the appointments are still pending approval from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the company in its regulatory filing stated that the appointments were "effective immediately," since Dish TV was left with just one director on its board.
Back in March this year, Dish TV’s shareholders rejected the candidature of Sunil Khanna, Bhushan Puri and Sonal Bankim Parekh as directors.
In December last year, Dish TV shareholders rejected the candidature of four independent directors, leaving the company without a functional board at that point.
