The broadcasting industry is eagerly waiting for BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council) to come into play and rectify the disturbed television rating system.

BARC has been working on building a robust measurement system since the last five months. It has indicated that work is in progress and the new system should be ready to use for the industry by March 2014.

In an exclusive video interview with exchange4media, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari spoke about the current status of BARC. “Work in on but it is extremely slow. I feel that the industry is not putting it on the front burner because of the capital investment involved or maybe there could be various conflicts of interest, which has slowed the process,” he said.
