It is learnt from sources close to the development that Ajay Vidyasagar, who had quit STAR India as President - Content and New Media, is likely to join Sun TV as CEO. Several attempts to reach Vidyasagar and Sun for confirmation yielded no results.
Vidyasagar had a long innings with STAR lasting 14 years. He had played a crucial role in shaping the company in multi-functional roles. He had joined STAR in 1996, looking after ad sales and marketing and was a member of the core team led by Peter Mukerjea, which got STAR going in India. Since then he had played various roles, including Commercial Director at Channel [v], moving on to heading the regional channel when STAR acquired Vijay TV down South.
He then moved to head the marketing team of first Content and Communication, and later added New Media to his repertoire too. In his last role as New Media Head, Vidyasagar had looked after the entire Internet business of STAR, while working closely with Fox Interactive in Los Angeles.
