Sanjay Sipahimalani, popularly known as Sanjay ‘Sippy’ in the industry, has put in his papers at Vyas Giannetti Creative as Executive Creative Director. Confirming the news, Sippy has said that he is joining Bates David Enterprise in a similar capacity. Prior to joining VGC, Sippy had stints with Grey Worldwide, Publicis Ambience, Euro RSCG, and SSC&B Lintas, among other agencies.
Subhash Kamath, CEO, Bates David Enterprise, has also confirmed about Sippy joining the agency. He, however, he refused to comment on who he would be reporting to. Moreover, it is not clear with, Sippy coming on board, whether Rajeev Raja, ECD, Bates David Enterprise, would be promoted or he would continue in the same role, working along side Sippy.
Apparently, Sippy’s decision to quit VGC is following Ryan Menezes’ departure from the agency. Menezes, who too was ECD at VGC, has now joined McCann Erickson as ECD.
Sippy began his career in advertising as a copywriter with Ogilvy Benson & Mather. He departed from the agency shortly after Benson did, journeying through others such as Trikaya Grey, Lowe, SSC&B Lintas and Euro RSCG. He later took a sabbatical to study creative writing in New York. He then returned to Mumbai and to advertising with stints at Grey Worldwide and Publicis.
Tata Safari, Philips, Saffola, Kinetic motorcycles, Kotak Mahindra, Nestle’s Maggi and ABN Amro Bank are some of the brands that Sippy has handled during his career.
