‘Technology will not just exponentially grow, but also get embedded in our lives’
Tuhina Pandey, Communications Leader – IBM, India and South Asia, deliberates on her biggest takeaway in 2022, the journey from being a journalist to comms professional and more
2022 is a year which has opened in a very exponential pace as everybody came off the pandemic. The opportunities are various and big. But the challenges are also the first of its kind. It is about how one creates a more sustainable environment and businesses.
To discuss further, exchange4media spoke to Tuhina Pandey, Communications Leader – IBM, India and South Asia in e4m PR and Corp Comm’s Podcast series.
In this episode, Pandey narrated her experience from being a journalist to communications professional, opportunities and challenges she faced as a woman leader and more.
Recalling her journey as a journalist, Pandey said, “It was totally unplanned. I was all happy doing my accountancy honours and was ready to pursue MBA. But then I went on to pursue Mass communication and I was clear that I wanted to become a Business journalist with a television channel and that’s how I landed up there. Right from covering the biggest corporate fraud, terrorist attack, Mumbai floods, busting penny stocks to becoming technology editor and covering the tech and telecom industry, it has been a life-changing experience for me.”
Talking about mentoring women at her workplace, Pandey stated, “I believe that the only way to mentor is to pave the way for others. It is important that you create an environment for people to grow beyond you. I also mentor women entrepreneurs. Not just in India, but across the world, women have a complex responsibility structure and that allows them being entrepreneurial and also little bit of help that goes along way. I never say no to any woman who approaches me for anything at all.”
Pandey concluded on this note: “Don’t be afraid to be awkward because you are unique and that is the biggest differentiator. You also have to be a good content builder and a storyteller. Go out and tell your stories from the ground and not just online.”
