Tata Indicom appoints Contract for Rs 80-cr creative business; DraftFCB Ulka retained for special projects
Following a multi-agency pitch, Tata Indicom has announced Contract Advertising as its agency to handle its creative duties. The account size is estimated to be well above the Rs 80-crore mark. The incumbent agency, DraftFCB Ulka, will continue to be on board handling special projects for the group.

Abdul Khan, Vice-President Marketing, Tata Teleservices Ltd, announcing the decision, said, “We are proud to have Contract on board. The decision was based on the presentation made to us which set a fresh new perspective for the business and presented an internal consistency for the communication plan.”
On the decision to keep DraftFCB ULka still on board, Khan explained, “Our incumbent agency will continue to work on special project like a new launch or announcement to be made for our existing products. Though the thinking process is still on as to how the actual communication plan will now be carried forward. We are still discussing this.”
The other agencies in the fray besides Contract and DraftFCB Ulka included McCann-Erickson, Fortune Communications, Saints & Warriors and Grey Worldwide.
Tata Teleservices is part of the Rs 54,000-crore Tata Group that has over 90 companies. With an investment of over Rs 9,000 crore in telecom, the group has a presence across the telecom value chain.
The bouquet of telephony services includes mobile services, smart wireless services, public booth telephony and wireline services. It also has value-added services like voice portal, roaming, post-paid Internet services, three-way conferencing, CUG, Wi-Fi Internet services and data services.
