To the woman who has been my source of support: Lady Luck
Josy Paul, the Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of BBDO, goes down memory lane for She Is Strength – e4m’s new series that we begin today on the occasion of International Women’s Day
I remember when I first met Lady Luck. It was at St Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She was standing outside the library. She invited me to do a poster for the reference books section. I tried to explain to her that I was there to study Physics. She said I can do both. That started my life as a writer.
I think Lady Luck believed in me more than I believed in myself. She was always there to nudge me to do stuff I wasn’t so sure about. Sometimes we played hide and seek in the shadows of doubt and in the darkness of uncertainty. But she never left me.
She was there when I met my wife, and when our son was born. She smiled when we started David, and she gave me wings when we set up BBDO.
She watches from the aisles when we go up on stage to pick the world’s most significant awards. She is there where there’s true love, faith, blood, sweat and tears. She can tell when you are faking it, or fooling yourself. She is a blessing. She is grace in times of need. I know she’s out here, right now. Can you hear her calling?
