A brazen ad by a wine shop in Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district has landed it in hot soup. In a bid to gain eyeballs, the shop reportedly put up a sign saying, "Din dahade English bolna seekhein" which means "Learn to speak in English with confidence." The establishment was soon slapped with a Rs 10,000 fine.
The ad that went viral on social media seemingly alludes to the false sense of confidence one gets under the influence of alcohol. Despite the creativity, many criticised the ad for being misleading on purpose.
The authorities reportedly discovered the ad through a newspaper and imposed a fine on the owner of the shop situated in the Nachankheda locality.
The owner reportedly said that the banner was put up away from his shop premises by miscreants who wanted to defame him. However, the plea was rejected since the authorities were convinced of the owner's involvement in the ad.
