Disney appoints Bob Chapek as new CEO after Bob Iger steps down
Chapek, who was earlier heading the Parks division, will take over from Iger, who will continue as the executive chairman at Disney
The Walt Disney Company has named Bob Chapek as its new CEO. Previously, the head of Parks, experiences and products division, Chapek will take over from former CEO Bob Iger, who will continue as Disney's executive chairman.
As per media reports, Iger will continue overseeing the company’s creative projects till December 2021 when his contract ends.
Chapek began his career at Disney in 1993 where he worked in the home entertainment unit. He was also behind the “Disney vault” strategy where iconic films are available on home video for a limited time. Media reports also state that Chapek signed the new digital distribution deals for Disney such as Apple’s iTunes.
