RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya has stepped down six months before the end of his term.
Before joining the Reserve Bank of India, Acharya was with Stern School of Business. He was also known to be a close aide of former RBI governor Urjit Patel.
Acharya, who was appointed as Deputy Governor in 2016, will reportedly go back to academics.
