TRAI invites applications for two whole-time members
The applicant must have special knowledge of, and professional experience in telecommunication, industry, finance, accountancy, management or consumer affairs
TRAI has invited applications to fill the posts of two whole-time members in its New Delhi headquarters for a term not exceeding three years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
The applications are to be submitted to the authority by August 28.
TRAI said that the applicant must have special knowledge of, and professional experience in telecommunication, industry, finance, accountancy, management or consumer affairs.
“Provided that a person who is or has been, in the service of the government, shall not be appointed as a member unless such a person has held the post of additional secretary to the government or any equivalent post in the central government or the state government.
“The applicant should either be or have been in a service. Other than that of government shall be appointed as a member, if such a person has at least 25 years of professional experience, and has served as a member of the board of directors or chief executive of a company,” it said while laying out the qualifications.
TRAI also said that the appointment shall be made by the central government on the recommendation of the search-cum-selection committee set up for this purpose. It is also free to identify and recommend any other person on the basis of merit, who has not applied for the post.
The Department of Telecommunications has directed TRAI to upload the advertisement inviting the applications on the DoT website by July 15.
