Vodka market posts 'heady' 35% p. a. growth

Mirroring international trends, India's spirits segment has undergone a metamorphosis — with white spirits (primarily vodka) emerging as a hot favourite lifestyle drink. With an eye on the increasing tribe of young adults (including an increasing proportion of the fairer sex) quenching their 'thirst' with vodka, several brown spirit drinkers are adding vodka into their repertoire across urban-semi urban markets.

ITC board okays Rs 14,000-cr investment plan over 5-yr period — Growth strategy covers outlays for acquisitions

The board of directors of ITC Ltd, at its meeting, approved the company's business plans for the projected five-year period ending 2009-10, envisaging a total investment of Rs 14,000 crore. The large investment-led growth plan will cover all the company's businesses, namely FMCG (including cigarettes) and the new businesses, hotels, paperboards, paper & packaging and agri-business.

Sony restructures ad sales team

Sony Entertainment Television has changed its ad sales structure. The channel has appointed ESS’ Vijay Koshy to head the English channels’ business and has effected change in the profiles of its existing members allotting specific channels to each head. From April 1, 2005 the various heads, including Koshy, would be reporting in to the Network’s Sales Head, Rohit Gupta.

‘KBC 2’ all set for comeback in August

<i>‘Kaun Banega Crorepati,’</i> the show that unanimously changed the face of television in India is all set for round two and this time the game is on STAR weekends. Slated for a release in the first week of August 2005, ‘KBC 2’ will take the 9.00 pm sot on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on STAR Plus. Coupling this with blockbuster movies is the route that channel intends to take to stabilise the weekend audience.
