Anil Ralph Thomas @ Cannes: Getting busy with party sessions
After several gyaan sessions, McCann Worldgroup’s Anil Ralph Thomas lets his hair down as he and his team find the singer within them...
So the dinner with the McCann gang at the Mougins Village was good fun. A quaint little village 20 minutes outside of Cannes. Artsy, quiet and a peaceful place. The food at the Bistrot de la Meditarrane was authentic and yummy. Though Prasoon (Joshi, Executive Chairman, McCann Worldgroup) found a lady bug in his sea bass. Apart from that we had a great time. Prasoon had this really cool app where you could scan your palm and get to know your future. Total hogwash I thought, but we had fun. And Prasoon got poorer by 900 Euros by the end of it.
On the drive back we sang Goan Bailas much to the chagrin of the stiff upper lipped French chauffeur. But then we didn’t care. Six bottles of rose wine and umpteen bottles of beer made us brave enough!
Then we headed for the shots beach party. It looked like everyone was on some substance or the other. Met some strange people who said even stranger things to me. I had to get out of that place fast. Not fast enough. Got caught by my friend Rajiv Rao, who looked like he was in good spirits. With him was the ever watchful Anup Chitnis. We spoke shop and all… And then I headed back to the apartment.
Today, I decided to give the workshops and seminars a miss. Had enough of gyaan for a bit. Hung around, met quite a few people. Got two very interesting job offers, one in particular was very tempting. An iconic American agency wanting to set shop in India.
So we have another McCann party tonight at some hotel named 3.14, who knows, I just might bump into Da Vinci.
