The Hindu launched its ad-free and subscription based app, Briefcase, on Apple iOS and has also appointed Veena Venugopal as its Editor.

In May 2018, The Hindu Group Publishing Pvt Ltd., which is also the publisher of The Hindu, had launched this mobile based application for Android users.
“Briefcase gives you five stories you need to know before you start your day. Carefully curated and crisply analysed. Liberate yourself from the clutter of “Breaking News”,” Venugopal tweeted.

Currently, its subscription is the cheapest as compared to other subscription based news platforms. Briefcase comes with a 1 year subscription at an Invitational Pricing of Rs.149 only with one month free trial.

The app will have the following features:

• Five important news stories of the day, delivered to you before dawn

• Short and Crisp Analysis covering all sections – Political News, Economic News, Business News, Sports News etc.

• Important data points for the day from Stock Markets, Fuel Prices, Weather and much more

• Play the daily ‘Question of the Day’

“This mobile app is designed to provide you with concise and lucid analyses of five top stories of the day. We cover a range of subjects including polictics, business, science, technology, culture and sports,” wrote Mukund Padmanabhan, Editor, The Hindu, in the newspaper.

“Launched in May, Briefcase has been updated on the Android platform,” he added yesterday.
