With Budget day just a couple of days away, exchange4media talked to some of the entrepreneurs whose businesses will be affected by the upcoming announcement, and asked them to share their thoughts on what they can expect, and what they are hoping the government will say that pertains to their sector.

Beerud Sheth, CEO and Co-founder, SMS Gupshup, takes a different view from most of his contemporaries. Instead of hoping for sops and subsidies, he hopes that the Government will have as little involvement in digital business as possible.

He said, “What are my hopes from the Union Budget? Honestly, nothing. The less the Government interferes in dynamic industries, like web and mobile, the better it is for that industry.”

Instead, he hoped that the industries could be given time to mature and sort out their practices themselves, for the best development and deployment. “Like it was for the IT services industry many years ago,” he said, as this allowed the industry to develop in a natural fashion driven by competition and market forces.
