Facebook beat analyst expectations with its Q1’16 revenue figures. The social media giant reported net income of $1.51 billion in Q1’16, up from $512 million for the same period last year.

Daily active users (DAUs) were 1.09 billion on average for March 2016, an increase of 16 per cent YoY. Mobile DAUs were 989 million on average for March 2016, an increase of 24 per cent YoY.

Monthly active users (MAUs) stood at 1.65 billion as of March 31, 2016, an increase of 15 per cent YoY. Mobile MAUs were 1.51 billion as of March 31, 2016, an increase of 21 per cent YoY.

Ad revenues increased by 57 per cent over Q1’15 to $5.2 billion. This was driven in large part by increasing mobile advertising revenue, which now represents 82 per cent of the company’s overall advertising revenue, an increase of 9 per cent from Q1’15.
