One of the most popular shows in the history of television, HBO’s Game of Thrones has stirred yet another buzz across the internet. The upcoming fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season 7 was splashed across pirated platforms on Friday afternoon—much before its global premiere on Sunday, August 6, 2017 on HBO.

As shocking as this was, the episode screenshots shared on social media platforms carried a ‘Star India’ watermark. The screenshots also carried the wording ‘For Internal Viewing Only’.

Later in the evening, Star India issued a media statement confirming compromise.

“This confirms the compromise of episode 4 of Game of Thrones Season 7, earlier this afternoon. We take this breach very seriously and have immediately initiated forensic investigations at our and the technology partner’s end to swiftly determine the cause. This is a grave issue and we are taking appropriate legal remedial action,” said a Star India spokesperson.
