OpenAI ropes in ex-Twitter exec Rishi Jaitly as senior advisor for India: Report

OpenAI is reportedly setting its sights on India after roping in former Twitter India head Rishi Jaitly as its senior advisor to understand India’s AI policies and regulations, according to a news report.

Jaitly will be focusing on helping OpenAI connect with the Indian government for various AI policies. The news report also hinted at the company’s plans to set up an India unit to leverage the growing AI ecosystem in the country.

Jaitly is the founder of Virginia Tech Institute for Leadership in Technology, which offers the world's first executive degree in the humanities. He’s also the co-founder of Times Bridge established in 2016.

He served as the VP, Asia Pacific, ME and North Africa at Twitter before he stepped down in 2016. He has also served at Google as its Head of Public-Private Partnerships, between 2007 and 2009.
