PIB busts 12 YouTube channels for spreading fake news about govt

Some of the channels called out by the PIB have more than 1 million subscribers

The Press Information Bureau (PIB), along with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has cracked down on 12 YouTube channels for publishing 134 videos containing fake information about the Central government.

The 12 channels are: AllPoliticalNews92, NewsFair, AM News YT, News Sectors, News Wave, Media Tak, YT News Network, Online Job, Sarkari Khabar, KL Online Study, Niti Gyan 4U and Akhand News. 

According to the PIB, AllPoliticalNews92, which has more than 60,000 subscribers and 13 lakh views, published false news that the Supreme Court of India has dismissed Narendra Modi’s appointment as the Prime Minister, about misuse of EVMs during Lok Sabha elections and more. 

NewsFair, which has more than 1.4 million subscribers and over 5.7K uploaded videos, published false news that the Lok Sabha elections will be conducted again.

Other pages called out by PIB also have at least 100-200K subscribers and have been posting false information regarding Lok Sabha elections, the government of India and the schemes launched by them.
