Dainik Bhaskar group has launched Bhaskar Bollywood Awards on July 25, 2011. The awards are sponsored by the new Estilo from Maruti Suzuki. The awards are unique in the sense that voters, through online voting (on www.dainikbhaskar.com ) , will have the power to decide the final winners.

A note released by the group stated, “The effort is expected to revolutionise the way cinematic talent is rewarded in our country and we’re sure that you would love to be a part of this change.”

The categories for Bhaskar Bollywood Awards are: Sabse Badaa Entertainer, Abhineta No 1, Abhinetri No 1, Jodi No 1, Gana No 1, Bole-Toh-Jhakaas, Film Zara Hatke, Dhamakedar Item, Top Ka Character and Fresh Talent of the Year. Apart from these, there is also an option to select the biggest star in two special categories – Grab a Headline and Filmi Chakkar.

Voters can take their call in two stages. First, by selecting what nominations they want in different categories and, second, by choosing the winners from the list of nominees in each category. Voters also have the power to reject nominations and add their own favourites to the nominations list in different categories.

Voting for the nominations will be open for seven days, beginning July 22. This will be the basis for finalising the nominees for the various categories.

During the second stage of the awards, voters can vote for their choice from within the final nominations. This voting will be open for three weeks. The winners will be decided after the completion of the whole process, solely on the basis of what is chosen through online voting.

While making selections in the two stages, voters will also earn some points. Ten lucky winners (who earn maximum points) will get the opportunity to meet their favourite stars and give them their awards.

With 62 editions of its newspapers in Hindi, English, Gujarati and Marathi and an English website, www.dainikbhaskar.com, Dainik Bhaskar group has a reach throughout the country.
