Indian Institute of Gems & Jewllery ropes in Debasish Biswas as CEO

Debasish Biswas has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ), a project of Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

GJEPC, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India is the apex body driving India's export-led growth in the gem and jewellery sector, since 1966.

IIGJ presently has 5 state-of-the-art campuses in Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Varanasi and Udupi offering degree, diploma & certification programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as corporate training.

The Indian gem & jewellery exports stood at USD 39.15 billion in 2021-22, contributes 7 per cent to India's GDP and employs around 5 million people.

Debasish Biswas brings on board 31 years of professional experience in banking, telecom, insurance and media sectors, including 17 years in leadership roles as VP, Country Head and CEO in the education and training industry across national & international markets.
