Sulekha Sharma joins UTV World Movies as AVP and National Head, Ad Sales
UTV World Movies has roped in Suleka Sharma as Associate VP and National Head, Ad Sales. Prior to this, Sharma was Zonal Head, North and East, Zee Café and Zee Studio. Sharma will be based in Delhi and will report to Nikhil Gandhi, Network Head, Sales, and Sameer Ganapathy, Business Head, UTV World Movies.

MK Anand, CEO, UTV Broadcasting has been restructuring the group’s operations after he joined the group. As per the new structure, all the channels will have a dedicated sales head, who would report to the business heads and to Group Sales Head Nikhil Gandhi.
Sharma joined UTV World Movies last week and her immediate mandate is to make the client see beyond ad sales. “I am a solutions provider and not just a media planner,” she said. Sharma plans to add at least 30 more advertising clients on the channel in the next six to eight months.
According to Sharma, “General entertainment channels (GECs) just spread the world to the masses, while niche channels such as UTV World Movies help build the image from point to point. UTV World Movies is a channel for refined mass.”
Sharma began her career in the editorial department with Strategic Newspaper.com in 1999. During her two and a half years that she spent there, Sharma used to write about business news. Her stint with ad sales started when she moved to The Times of India, where she was Head of sub office, Visakhapatnam. After spending five and a half years there, she moved to Zee, where she spent two years and four months, before moving to UTV World Movies.
