Uninor turns 2 in Andhra; ups consumer connect
GSM service provider Uninor celebrated the completion of two successful years of operation in Andhra Pradesh on December 6, 2011. Revolving around the concept of ‘Pay less, talk more’, the anniversary saw employees of Uninor interacting and understanding their customers’ experiences of being associated with the telecom brand.

During the year, Uninor has to its credit launched over 15 segmented products, all designed keeping in mind customer usage patterns and the best value for money spent. The celebrations saw customers sharing their experiences of savings per month in their household post switching to Uninor network. One such customer testified saving over 50% on monthly call bills after activating a Uninor product.

In less than two years of commercial operations, Uninor claims to have over 2.8 million subscribers across 23 districts, 750 towns and 3,000 villages in Andhra Pradesh. While currently servicing the vast geography through 86 Uninor exclusive stores with presence in over 360 modern trade outlets – the company has further plans of taking the count of their exclusive stores to 100 by the year end.
Uninor is owned by Norway-based Telenor Group, one of the world’s leading mobile operators and India’s second largest diversified real estate major Unitech Ltd. The Telenor Group has invested Rs 6135.63 crore through new shares to hold 67.25 per cent majority stake in the company.
The company holds a pan-India UAS license to offer mobile telephony services in each of India’s 22 circles. It has also received spectrum to roll out these services in 21 of the 22 circles. At present, Uninor’s services are available in the 13 circles of Uttar Pradesh (West), UP (East), Bihar, Orissa, Kolkata, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
