IPL 8 grows by 23% in 59 matches

Till its seventh week IPL 8 garnered 22% more TVRs than IPL 7

The Indian Premier League season 8 viewership maintained its growth in comparison to IPL 7 even towards the end of the tournament. According to TAM data CS4+ All India April 7 – May 23 on Sony Max, Sony Six, Sony Six HD, Sony Aath, Sony Kix, in the 59 matches played of IPL 8 grew by 23% in terms of average TVTs in comparison to IPL 7. While in IPL 8 it received 9.9 million TVTs, during the same time in IPL 7 it was 8.1 million TVTs.

Till its seventh week IPL 8 garnered 22% more TVRs than the previous season. While in IPL 7 the viewership was 3.0 TVRs, during IPL 8 it grew to 3.7 TVRs. The time spent by viewers per match during this season was 45 minutes 43 seconds in comparison with 41 minutes 47 seconds. This is a 9% increase in the time spent by viewers on IPL this season. The 59 matches of IPL 8 were sampled by 190 million unique viewers.

The reach on the other hand had increased by 0.5% from the previous season. While in IPL 8 it was 190 million, in IPL 7 the reach was 189 million. 70% of the All India Universe tuned in to watch IPL 8 matches.
