Shekhar Banerjee, who was COO, Madison Media, is joining Wavemaker India as Managing Partner. He is replacing Anand Chakravarthy, who was appointed Managing Director of Essence India. Banerjee will report to Wavemaker India MD, Kartik Sharma. Top industry sources confirmed the news to exchange4media but did not wished to be quoted.
GroupM's Wavemaker, created from the merger of Maxus and MEC, opened for business in India last year.
At his more than a decade-long stint at Madison, Banerjee handled key accounts such as Asian Paints, ITC and Marico.
