India’s beloved tea-time snack, Parle G has been trending for a bizarre reason. A dubious “dark” version of the biscuit, called Dark Parle G, has captured the internet’s fascination, making people wonder whether the biscuit is real or just a creation of AI.

Searches for “Parle G Dark”  or "Dark Parle G" yield no results on shopping platforms, convincing netizens that the iteration of the beloved biscuit isn’t real. But that hasn’t stopped the internet’s fascination for the same. If something goes viral, can memes be far behind?

“Dark”, which ostensibly refers to the high cocoa content in the biscuit, has also become an innuendo for “dark jokes.”

Parle Products, which owns Parle G, hasn’t commented on the viral phenomenon. It unclear whether Parle G Dark is an AI creation or part of a marketing gimmick to create some buzz around a yet-to-be launched product.
