Sanjay Narayanan named Lionsgate India Theatrical Marketing Head
Previously Spent 12 Years as Marketing Head of Warner Bros. Pictures India, launching Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Matrix Franchises in the territory
Lionsgate India, recently launched by global content leader Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), has named experienced entertainment marketing executive Sanjay Narayanan as its Theatrical Marketing Head, it was announced today by Lionsgate India Managing Director Rohit Jain, to whom he will report.
Based in the Company’s Mumbai office, Narayanan will oversee the marketing campaigns for Lionsgate’s slate of theatrical releases in the territory. He will work closely with the Company’s Indian theatrical licensees to ensure integrated marketing campaigns for all Lionsgate releases in India, collaborate with syndication and local production teams in India to create marketing synergies, and build social and digital communities for Lionsgate’s slate of films. Narayanan will also work closely with Jain in building Lionsgate’s franchise and product management strategy in the territory.
“Sanjay is an experienced theatrical marketing executive with diverse experience handling various film genres and movie franchises,” said Jain. “His extensive track record and goodwill in the theatrical distribution space make him the perfect addition to our Lionsgate India office as we establish our marketing and distribution infrastructure and expand the Company’s presence in India.”

Narayanan spent 12 years as the Marketing Head at Warner Bros. Pictures India, where he worked on launching some of the biggest movie franchises including “Harry Potter,” “Lord of the Rings” and “The Matrix.” He also had stints at Walt Disney India where he worked on franchises like “Toy Story,” “Cars” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” In addition he also worked with Sony DADC handling the Disney and Sony Pictures home entertainment portfolio in the territory. Most recently, he was a Marketing & Distribution Consultant for independent films at Luminosity Pictures.
Narayanan received his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Pune, India, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Mumbai University.
His announcement follows last month’s hiring of Maitreyee Dasgupta as Creative Head as Lionsgate India continues to build its executive team.
