MIB okays launch of Sony Marathi HD and ABP News HD
The ministry has also approved renaming of 21 channel licences
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has given its approval to Sony Pictures Networks India and ABP News Network for the launch of Sony Marathi HD and ABP News HD, media reports said.
The MIB has also okayed renaming of Ten Golf HD as Sony Marathi HD.
ABP News Network can also rename its licence for ABP Kannada to ABP News HD, which will be the network’s first HD news channel. In all, 21 name change applications have been approved.
Many of the licences have been operationalised post the ministry’s approval.
As per media reports other approvals include:
NDTV Network’s NDTV Goodtimes has got the nod to change its name to GOODTimes with the tagline #LiveYoungLiveIndian.
Three of Viacom18’s licences have been renamed - Colors Cineplex, Colors Cineplex HD and Colors Rishtey. Meanwhile, Discovery Communications India’s Discovery Jeet channel has been renamed Jeet Prime HD.
Also, BCCL’s English HD news channel Times Now HD has been renamed Times Now World.
