4th June 2024 is a landmark date in the history of Indian elections. The Worlds largest democracy elected its Prime MinisterNarendra Modifor the third consecutive time. Many critics believe that its not a clear mandate for the PM as the BJP could not achieve majority singularly like previous two terms but nevertheless we had our PM sworn in for the third time in a row with the support of strong allies.
Modi 3.0 is definitely different from earlier versions. Firstly, the NDA is in power and not the BJP alone. NDA is backed by strong allies such as the TDP & JDU, here, who are seen as the kingmaker. Will such an alliance, which the current BJP is not used, influence policy and decision-making? That I personally believe only time will tell as politics is a mystery which is yet to be solved.
The functioning of the government may see some modest changes with a coalition angle in between but it will not be something which would derail or disrupt governance. Prime Minister is known for his bold fearless and straightforward decision making. That is what makes him stand out. Having a mandate which is slightly short of singular majority after 10 years is no mean feat and the BJP under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi has done this very convincingly.
There are certain set principles basis which we have seen the past two governments function. One cannot deny that it was the My Way or the Highway style but at the end that is what has propelled our growth story. The kind of strides that India has taken in the area of world politics, defence, technology, internal security, start ups, finance, self empowerment etc in the last decade is something unimaginable prior to 2014. What Modi 1.0 & 2.0 has done to the nation is that it has given that confidence to us that YES we are 20% of world and we must be heard and not taken for granted. This feeling of pride and nationalism has finally made us all “Indians” in true sense.
I expect the same to continue in Modi 3.0 as that is the cornerstone of Modi style of governance. Managing an alliance does not mean growth has to be compromised. We can surely grow by balancing some sensibilities. That is the beauty of a true democracy.
The swearing in ceremony held on 9 June 2024 was a testament of power, unity and most important continuity. The new cabinet is a perfect balance of stability and agility. Key portfolios retained signal a strong message and some new guns inducted signal a shift and preparedness for the future.
Modi 3.0 is “humbly” promising and sends out a clear message that WE are here to stay and that too for your Good !
