Oscars 2018: The Shape of Water bags four awards, no win for The Post
The Shape of Water took home four leading awards including the much-coveted Best Picture award
The Post, Steven Spielberg’s star-studded journalism-based film about The Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee, publisher Katharine Graham and how the unearthing of the Pentagon Papers resulted in it becoming one of the most formidable newspapers across the world failed to bag the coveted Best Picture award at the 90th Annual Academy Awards.
It was Guillermo del Toro's The Shape Of Water that bagged the award.
Spielberg‘s historical drama, which won acclaim from both critics and audience worldwide, was named Best Picture by the National Board of Review. It’s the first major film that was entirely written, directed, and released during the Trump administration and has reignited an interest in moviegoers about journalism-based movies. However, the movie was completely shut out at the BAFTAs and SAG Awards, and lost every one of its bids at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards.
Toro’s The Shape of Water won top honours at the Academy Awards this year with it bagging four awards in all, including Best Production Design, Best Score and Best Director.
