Times Internet Limited (TIL), the digital division of the Times Group, has laid off over 120 employees in the past three days, sources told exchange4media.
This marks the second round of layoffs at TIL, following the loss of 100 jobs in August, despite earlier assurances of that being a "one-time exercise".
The recent layoffs, done discreetly through individual phone calls, took employees by surprise, with no prior communication to vertical heads, the sources said.
The affected employees, spanning various verticals, were reportedly given three-month severance packages, and their email addresses were promptly terminated.
Insiders speculate that the layoffs are part of a broader integration process ahead of the Times Group’s split between the Jain brothers.
An email sent to TIL elicited no response till the time of writing these lines. The copy will be updated as and when they respond.
