TRAI likely to get a new Chairman soon: Report

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) may get a Chairman soon, say media reports based on information that the cabinet secretary recently interviewed four candidates for the post that has been vacant since October 1, 2023.
The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) had invited applications for the same in December.
This was the second advertisement that the government issued, the first being released on June 26, 2023.
As per the report, two former secretaries, a Railway Board member and an official from the DoT are among those interviewed.
The last chairman of the regulatory body was PD Vaghela who retired on September 30.
