TRAI seeks infra status for broadcasting sector
The regulatory body has made this recommendation to the MIB
TRAI has sought infrastructure status for the broadcasting and cable service sector in a recommendation to the I&B ministry called 'Ease of doing business in telecom and broadcasting sector', as per media reports.
Broadcasters have for long sought this status.
TRAI has also asked MIB to provide stage-wise timelines for the granting of licences, registration and approval. It has also asked for a Centre of Excellence that will study technical, economic, social and legal aspects of the broadcasting sector.
