1,154 new empanelment applications from newspapers & magazines submitted to CBC

The government has empanelled 6,703 publications in 2022-23 as on 11th July, 2022, I&B minister Anurag Thakur informed the Lok Sabha

The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), the nodal body under the  Information & Broadcasting ministry that is responsible for the dissemination of central government ads, has received 1154 fresh applications for empanelment from newspapers and magazines.

"At present, there are 1154 fresh applications of newspapers and periodicals (magazines) for empanelment with Central Bureau of Communication (CBC, erstwhile BOC) since August 2021. There is no category of Special media in CBC empanelment. Exercise of empanelment of publications is an ongoing process," I&B minister Anurag Thakur informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

In response to another question, Thakur said that the Print Media Advertisement Policy of the Government of India came into effect on 1st August 2020. "Since then, no amendments have been made in these guidelines," he added.

He also informed that the government has empanelled 6,703 publications in 2022-23 as on 11th July, 2022. The figure stood at 7,752 in 2021-22, 7,400 in 2020-21, and 6,622 in 2019-20.
