IRS Q2 2010: Poor results continue to haunt dailies in Jammu & Kashmir
The situation is not a very happy one for publications in Jammu & Kashmir as per the IRS Q2 2010 results. All the top four dailies have seen de-growth in this quarter. Meanwhile, magazines have witnessed an unusual situation where the top three magazines have remained stagnant. Surprisingly, there is no mention of monitoring of Urdu dailies in J&K in the IRS survey.
The situation is not a very happy one for publications in Jammu & Kashmir as per the IRS Q2 2010 results. All the top four dailies have seen de-growth in this quarter. Meanwhile, magazines have witnessed an unusual situation where the top three magazines have remained stagnant. Surprisingly, there is no mention of monitoring of Urdu dailies in J&K in the IRS survey.
Hindi daily Amar Ujala leads the field among dailies in Jammu & Kashmir. The paper has seen a decline of 6.67 per cent in AIR at 112,000 in Q2. English paper Daily Excelsior is ranked second with an AIR of 97,000, as compared to 101,000 in Q1, a decline of 3.96 per cent.
Showing negative growth in AIR, Punjab Kesari and Dainik Jagran are ranked third and fourth, respectively. English daily Hindustan Times, on the other hand, has seen a massive growth of 33.33 per cent in AIR at 8,000 in Q2.
The top three magazines – Grih Shobha, Manorama and India Today (English) – have maintained status quo in their AIR.
On the other hand, Competition Success Review has clocked a mammoth growth of 300 per cent, easily one of the highest growths seen in any market in this quarter. The remaining magazine players have seen a mix of growth and decline in this state.
