IRS Q2 2010: Steady growth for dailies and periodicals in Rajasthan market

Newspapers in Rajasthan have done well, with the top six newspapers recording a growth in their average issue readership (AIR) in IRS Q2 2010. Rajasthan Patrika topped the list, recording a 3.22 per cent growth in AIR. It is followed by Dainik Bhaskar at No. 2 and Dainik Navjyoti at No. 3, which have recorded growths of 2.02 per cent and 8.49 per cent, respectively.

The top newspaper, Rajasthan Patrika, has recorded an AIR of 6,805,000 in Q2. Dainik Bhaskar is not far behind the leader and has received an AIR of 6,121,000. The battle for supremacy in the Rajasthan market promises to heat up with both players recording positive growth. At third spot is Dainik Navjyoti, which is way behind the top two dailies with an AIR of 396,000.

The Times of India is placed fourth with a growth rate of 8.49 per cent, followed by Daily News with a growth rate of 15.72 per cent. At sixth position is News Today with a growth rate of 13.75 per cent. English dailies Hindustan Times and DNA are at the bottom of the Top 10 list with negative growth rate of 9.30 per cent and 8.82 per cent, respectively. Just three of the Top 10 newspapers have recorded negative growth in Rajasthan.

The magazines in Rajasthan have done well too. Pratiyogita Darpan leads the list with a whopping 39.86 per cent growth. It is followed by Chotu Motu in the second spot, which has, however, witnessed negative growth of 1.22 per cent. At the third spot is Grih Shobha, which has a positive growth rate of 9.30 per cent. Two of the top five magazines have recorded a negative growth.
