Nava Bharat Group Chairman Vinod Ramgopal Maheshwari has passed away. He was 79.

He breathed his last in Mumbai on the morning of August 12 after suffering from dengue, as per media reports.

Maheshwari, who was being treated for dengue in a Mumbai hospital, was a journalist for the last 60 years.

Paying a tribute to Maheshwari on Twitter, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the visionary had always raised the voice of the people in Central India through Nava Bharat.

Nava Bharat was founded as a biweekly publication in Nagpur in 1934 to represent the voices of Central India. It soon became a daily publication and also started editions from several other cities in due course.

Nava Bharat added Marathi daily 'Navarashtra' to their family in the year 2000. Navarashtra now gets published from three centres - Nagpur, Mumbai and Pune - along with many other rural areas. Navarashtra has 9 hyper local editions as well as three supplements Gunjan, Mayuri and Kshitij.
