Vishwanath Sachdev, an author, senior columnist, and former editor of Navbharat Times, has been bestowed with the Press Council's prestigious Raja Rammohan Roy Award for Lifetime Achievement for 2023.

Sachdev has been a long-standing member of the Mumbai Press Club.

Vishwanath Sachdev began his career in 1962 with the publication of the literary magazine Vauthan, based in Bikaner, Rajasthan. In 1967, he joined the Times of India group. Mr Sachdev was associated with Navbharat Times, Mumbai, from 1987 until his retirement in 2003.

Jitu Kalita, correspondent at Niyamiya Barta, AK Sreejith, Staff Reporter, Mathrubhumi, have been jointly selected in the category of Rural Journalism.

Under the category of Developmental Reporting, Reji Joseph, Special Correspondent, Rashtra Deepika, and Navamy Sudhish, Principal Correspondent, The Hindu, have been jointly selected.

Other winners were Gibi Sam, Vishwajit K, Vivek Nigam, Subhamoy Bhattacharjee, Shaik Subhani, Ashok Adepal, Praveen Mishra, Anthony Marcus Mergulhao, Jasheena M, and Remya KH
