The number of cable TV subscribers in the country has touched 11.7 crore, the ministry of information and broadcasting has said, as per media reports.
The number was derived from seeding data available from multi system operators and local cable operators.
Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has told the Lok Sabha that the exact number of subscribers would be known on completion of cable TV digitisation, as per reports.
The digitisation of cable TV network as part of the first phase has been fully completed in the country, the minister has said.
